How we help Employers
Most of our work is helping the small to medium sized employer with everything to do with employment law.
Often this will be advising on disciplinary processes, or defending a personal grievance.
Our approach is very practical - if you have got it wrong - settle and move on!
If some one is trying it on - really happy to fight the good fight, but at the end of the day, you will still need settle and move on.
We settle most claims, either before, or at mediation with the Employment Relations Service (part of MBIE) - partly because costs go up hugely for everyone if there is no settlement at mediation. But every case is different, and good advice is vital.
Fees - mostly done on the hourly rate (at $220 to $475 per hour + GST).
The average fee for mediation is around $4.5 k + GST.
There is no average fee for the Employment Relations Authority, because it depends on how much work we need to do. A simple case would be around $10 k , and there is no upper limit
Employment and Contracting Agreements
We can create a master Employment Agreement for you for a flat rate of $950 + GST, customized to the needs of your business.
To review an existing agreement, or for any specialized, industry specific clauses, this is done at hourly rate ($220-475+GST per hour).
We also offer master Independent Contracting Agreements for a flat rate of $450 + GST. Please note the law surrounding contractors and contracting agreements changed in February 2026. If you use contractors, get your agreements reviewed by us to make sure they comply with the new law!
